Merry Christmas! And ... I'm Back, Again.

I guess I could pretend that I wasn't gone for 7-8 months from The Sims.  Or I could excuse my way out of why I've been gone.

Truth be told, I was burned out.  I was building homes right and left, and really, a few posts before my last in February, I was feeling really overwhelmed with building and underwhelmed with my creativity.  So, I decided to unceremoniously step back and take a hiatus.  Honestly, I didn't think that hiatus would have lasted as long as it did, but it did good nonetheless.

I started up my game about a week and a half ago to discover that a lot of my files were corrupted.  So I basically had to start over.  I lost whatever WIPs and sims I'd been working on but because I'd been away for so long, most I can't even tell you what they looked like.  I uninstalled a lot of EPs and all my SPs so all I have installed really, are my favorite expansions and all my store worlds.

The log cabin in my last post in February was one I decided to rebuild, however.  Here's a seasonal picture of what I've done so far....

There are just some minor changes to the exterior.  Since I don't have Showtime installed the window in the front is different... and a few other modifications.  Because of the snow in Appaloosa (where I moved my legacy family) you can't see the landscaping detail.  But all landscaping is done, I've moved to the interior.  I was hoping to have this ready before Christmas, but it simply won't get done.  I'll be leaving later today to go to my mom's house for Christmas so I won't be back until after New Year's.

And in regards to building..... I haven't decided if I'm going to go back to building for others or if I'll just enjoy it for myself.  I'm taking my time to make a decision. I really want to enjoy other non-build aspects of the game as well, like my legacy family I left behind.

Whenever a decision is made, I'll hit up my blog again.  And really, I will still use my blog for personal builds so I'll be back around for sure now that I feel like I've gotten back into the groove of Sims 3.

I hope everyone has a Merry and Happy Christmas!

Long Time, No See

It has been a long while since I've blogged, let alone finished a build worth sharing on the Sims 3 Exchange....

Real life has been really busy the past, hmm, say 5 months.  We bought a house, got to see it built from the ground up, moved, unpacked, had family vacation and now that summer is starting to get into swing, I feel like there's time (and a desire) to build in Sims 3 again.

Yesterday, I actually got my first inspired idea in a long time, which is a good sign, and began building a log cabin in Appaloosa.

I can't say exactly how much of it I'll be finishing, but I will finish it enough to go on the Exchange.  So far, it's a 4 bedroom house with ample living space.  It's placed on one of the existing 50x50 lots in Appaloosa.

In being away from the game, I'm surprised to see all the updates and the new content in the store and new content headed our way with that new expansion about vacationing.  And about the news about Sims 4.  Mind. Blown.

Because Sims 4 is coming out next year (right?) and Sims 3 is starting to (in my opinion) die down since they've cranked out all the EPs and SPs so close together the last year, I'm thinking I really won't be buying much more of the content unless I hear it's "That Great" or if I find it on sale.  Personally, I'm already ready for Sims 4.

I feel like Sims 3 was the Windows Vista of Microsoft and when Windows 7 hit, it fixed all the problems that were wrong with Vista.  My hopes are kind of on Sims 4 in much the same way.  All the things that bothered me or was frustrating with Sims 3, I'm hoping are all fixed or improved on with Sims 4.  I'm actually interested in opinions, so for the first time in ages I'm going to change the poll to ask about Sims 4.

Anyway, I'm off to build a bit I guess. Wish me luck.

Progress, Progress, Progress!

The beach house has officially been moved to a more spacious lot in Sunlit Tides (formally located in Sunset Valley) and I've even gotten more done with it.

Check it out!

This won't be ready any time soon, sadly.  It is actually a large house, although not large in bedroom numbers.  Believe it or not this is a one bedroom, two bath house.  0_0  But there's lots of entertainment space to fill and the back yard hasn't even been touched yet.

All in good time, my friends.

2 Homes for Aurora Skies -- Coming Soon!

So, as many know, Aurora Skies is the newest world by EA to hit the Sims 3 Store.  After fooling around in the town last night and checking things out, I got an idea for a couple of homes.

The first one is more of a practice house -- thinking of bulldozing it really, because I was building it with another WIP I've shared awhile back (the Beach House) in mind.  I was wondering if the style would match Aurora Skies.... and I don't think so, but here it is:

I was still trying to give it a contemporary, European/Skandinavian look but I'm not so sure I achieved it so it may make the trash bin more quickly than My Studio.

The next house, however, feels more "Right" and was built fluidly.  And when a build just seems to "Happen" I know it'll generally make it to My Studio.  So keep an eye out for this one.  I'm pretty happy with it.  It is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath one-story home currently being built in Aurora Skies.

That's it for now, kiddos! Have a great weekend!

I'm Not Dead

I know, I know! I haven't been around the Sims 3 site and such in a LONG time!  And I've kinda dropped off the virtual face of the Sims 3 world . . .

But I'm not dead yet.

I have been wholly involved in some real-life happenings that have over-taken game play all together.  So here's whats been happening:

1- House-hunting in real life! Turns out that the housing market right now is a buyer's market and it's very competitive.  My husband and I have been on the hunt for a permanent home, ready to get out of our sorry apartment ASAP.  As it turns out, we found the perfect home only to discover that it sold 15 minutes before I called the realty company about it.  So, we did the next best thing: Commissioned the builder to build us that same house in the same neighborhood, but I get to choose all the colors and woods and such.

This is a Sims 3 builder/creator's dream!  Gah!

2- The not-so-fun occupation I've been handling is potty training my very stubborn and three-year-old daughter.  I've been trying off and on for the past year to potty train her and it seems like the last 3 weeks (yes, it has taken me 3 weeks) have been focused 101% on getting her to use that silly potty.

This is generally NOT the fun part of playing Sims 3, I think we can all agree.  Potty-training those little virtual babies is easy, but time-consuming in it's own right.  I think my Sims will be child-less for awhile to give me a potty-training break!

With that said, I just bought Sims 3 Seasons today. FINALLY! It's actually downloading from Origins now, as I type this post.

So I will be finishing up the last 2 houses that I shared in my last 2 posts.  With the addition of Seasons items included in it.

And now that we're on the down-hill slope of house building and potty training IRL I can get back to some sims content, I think!
